The shortest visit to Bhutan which is of at least three nights is especially suites for the travelers who are on official tours or business trips from the neighboring countries like India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Thailand. You may also take extension of four to five days. Himalaya at Glimpse will bring you to the land of peaceful dragon multitudes with Himalayas, beautiful valleys and religious monasteries and temples which is in the pockets of high mountains and welcoming people of Bhutan. Therefore, this will be the perfect trip after your challenging and hard work.
On arrival to Paro international airport, your visa will be stamped. After clearing customs and immigration, you will be met by your guide representing Triple-Wings Tours and Travels. Paro is at an altitude of 2300 meters above the sea level, and serves as a spot for rice growing. The town center, built in 1985 is quite new and the main street is parallel to the Paro River. This morning/afternoon, you will visit the Ta Dzong, a circular fortress that once in 17th century protected the valley from the Tibetan Invaders. Currently this old watchtower is being used as National Museum and is filled with beautiful collections of antiquities. Most of the displays are religious collections, paintings, statues, and traditional arts and crafts, but more importantly you will have an initial sense of Bhutan’s history and culture by visiting the museum.
From the museum, you will head down to the Paro Dzong, a magnificent fortress built in 1647 A.D. This fortress is presently the seat of the district administration and monk’s residence. You may also walk around the town and poke many handicraft shops, visit archery field. After lunch you will take a short drive to victory fortress. From there, the snow caped peak of Jhomolhari “Mountain of Goddess” can be seen on a clear day (altitude 7329m/24039ft). On your way back, we will take a short stop at the view point of the Tigers Nest (Taktsang Monastry) and visit 8th century Buddhist temple.
We will take early breakfast and take a short drive for 40 minutes to start our hike to most renowned Buddhist temple. The trail climbs through beautiful rhododendron and pine forest; many of the trees are bejeweled with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Recess for a light refreshment at the tea house and then walk a short distance until you see clearly and seemingly within reach, the Tigers Nest Monastery…on your way back, you will have your lunch at the tea house or picnic at the base camp, drive back to town and followed by an hour drive to the modern city of Bhutan, Thimphu…..rest of the day, enjoy walking and visiting the city.
As being practice traditionally we will start our day with visiting the memorial Stupa and then continue on to the weaving center…then to the city view point followed by the school of traditional arts and crafts. We will break for lunch and will visit to folk Heritage Museum, which displays day to day livelihood of typical Bhutanese farmers in medieval period. Next we will visit the very interesting textile museum, which is a small place but well displayed under the royal patronage of HRH Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck (the youngest Queen of the fourth king). Then we shall proceed to Tashicho dzong ,the summer residence of the Je Khenpo, the chief abbot. It also houses the throne room of His Majesty the king and it is the main administrative centre of the kingdom. Last on the item of the day is a visit to the traditional paper making factory and followed by the visit to Takin preservation (national animal of Bhutan). Tonight your guide will bid you a farewell dinner at the hotel.
Breakfast and then bid farewell to the kingdom as you proceed to the airport for your flight back home.
